A man suspected to be “middleman” in Daphne Caruana Galizia’s assassination was arrested on Thursday during a raid that targeted a money laundering ring that he forms part of.

This was revealed by Times of Malta and independently confirmed by Newsbook.com.mt.

The magistrate leading the murder inquiry gave the go-ahead to experts from Europol to seize the middleman’s devices.

The middleman is believed to have linked the person suspected of commissioning the murder of the journalist to the men who carried out the murder.

Three men brothers Alfred and George Degiorgio, along with Vincent Muscat have been charged with the murder.

The Times of Malta reported that the police have been debriefing the man and seeking to corroborate what he claims to know about the plot.

The local newspaper reported that the middleman sought presidential pardon to name who ordered Daphne Caruana Galizia’s assassination. According to its sources, presidential pardon has been the subject of intense discussions between the police, the attorney general and the Prime Minister.

During his speech on Sunday, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said that he wants all the facts to emerge.
