500 days after Daphne Caruana Galizia and “the masterminds still enjoy impunity and power”. This was said by Reżistenza Malta activists who put up a billboard in Bidnija, close to the place of the journalist’s murder on the 16th October 2017.
In a statement, the activists said that it is unheard of for a journalist to be killed for lies, they insisted that when one is murdered, it is in retaliation for the truth they would have unveiled to stop them from continuing their work. The activists said that if someone publishing lies, then one can file a law suit in Court to prove it. However, they said there is no legal remedy for fighting the truth.
In Bidnija #Malta. 500days after the assassination of #DaphneCaruanaGalizia. Masterminds of her murder are still amongst us, enjoying #impunity & #power. Whoever commissioned the crime is powerful enough to buy the silence of others. #Malta deserves better. #RuleOfLaw #Corruption pic.twitter.com/VQ1SFnGqFp

The activists said that it is evident that whoever commissioned the journalist’s murder is not a common criminal, but has enough power to buy silence. Moreover, they said they are disappointed with the way the majority of the journalistic profession works, which they said that was acting as though the only way to search for the truth was exclusive to the Police Force. They said the the media has the duty to investigate the assassination and verify if the Police is truly doing their utmost to solve the murder.
