Former S&D Vice President and Partit Laburista MEP Miriam Dalli and the Prime Minister’s head of secretariat Clyde Caruana have been sworn in as Members of Parliament on Monday afternoon.
The government is set to unveil its financial budget on Monday evening, with Finance Minister Edward Scicluna scheduled to start reading it out at 6.30pm.
Dalli and Caruana were co-opted to Parliament to replace disgraced former prime minister Joseph Muscat and government MP Etienne Grech.
The proposal was put forward by Prime Minister and PL leader Robert Abela who convened a parliamentary group meeting and an executive meeting on Saturday where he disclosed his plans to have Dalli and Caruana co-opted to parliament.
The two candidates were approved unanimously after the co-option mechanism was initiated when no one from the 2017 snap election candidates filed their nomination to replace Muscat. Grech on the other hand had been elected through a casual election himself.
