Genoa defender Domenico Criscito revealed that he was on the Morandi bridge just 10 minutes before it collapsed and killed 35 people. The 31-year-old posted a video on Instagram of him crossing the bridge in a car. One of the bridge’s supporting towers collapsed in the morning during a violent storm. Criscito wrote, “‘I write this message for all those who are writing to me, worried about me and my family. We’re all fine, even though we crossed that bridge exactly 10 minutes before the collapse.”
Criscito returned to Genoa in May after a 7-year spell with Zenit St. Petersburg in Russia and has been capped 24 times by the Italian national team.
