Sources told Newsbook.com.mt that a student in Mosta Primary school B contracted Covid-19 from a teacher, indicating transmission within the school. However, the Ministry for Education has denied this.
The Ministry stated that there are 360 students, 70 teachers and another 9 members of staff at the primary school. It outlined that a teacher and a student have been found positive for Covid-19, but that as far as the Ministry knows, transmission did not occur within the school.
It added that the school has followed all protocols and regulations set out by the health authorities. 5 students and their families are in quarantine, but there are no other teachers in quarantine.
Superintendent for Public Health Prof. Charmaine Gauci today outlined that there hasn’t been a large transmission of the virus within schools. Furthermore, she said that so far, the virus hasn’t been transmitted from student to student in either primary or secondary schools.
