Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Chris Fearne posted on his social media accounts that health authorities have increased testing against coronavirus for healthcare staff. Minister Fearne has also reiterated the authorities appeal for the people to stay in their homes in order to remain safe and not contract the virus.
In the past few weeks, a number of healthcare workers have tested positive to coronavirus and many of them have contracted the virus through local transmission.
On Monday, the Superintendent for Public Health, Prof. Charmaine Gauci announced that 14 new cases were confirmed out of the 555 swab tests and until today, health authorities carried out over 10,000 swab tests.
In total in Malta and Gozo 241 COVID-19 cases were confirmed.
As of Sunday evening, all residents at Hal Far Open Centre have been placed under mandatory quarantine for fourteen days after a number of residents tested positive to COVID-19.
