The government should leave the necessary decisions related to the coronavirus pandemic in the hands of the health authorities, Partit Nazzjonalista said on Monday
The PN’s action team on coronavirus led by Opposition leader Bernard Grech held meetings with the Superintendent of Public Health Professor Charmaine Gauci and Malta Union of Midwives and Nurses, on Monday.
In a statement, Partit Nazzjonalista said that all coronavirus-related decisions should be in the hands of the health authorities. The action team which was set up by Grech, met various stakeholders to discuss the current situation.
During the meeting, the Opposition Leader reiterated the Opposition trusts the Superintendent of Public Health and other experts in public health. The work being carried out by the health authorities has been hindered by contrasting statements made by Prime Minister Robert Abela, Grech said.
The Opposition also met with the MUMN. Grech thanked the health care workers and frontliners who have been facing various challenges and are under pressure due to the pandemic’s impact on them and their family. During the meeting, the lack of human resources was discussed. The union also brought up the issue of the lack of nurses trained in intensive care.
