The Malta Union of Teachers, MUT, will meet with Prime Minister Robert Abela on Thursday afternoon.
The MUT said that they will ask Prime Minister Robert Abela to close all schools with immediate effect due to coronavirus. This was confirmed to Newsbook.com.mt by a union’s spokesperson.
MUT said that parents, educators and the student themselves are concerned about the latest development and are in favour of school closures as a temporary measure.
There is also a petition going around calling for schools and the University of Malta to temporarily close. Till now almost 10,000 signatures were collected.
In the meantime, on Wednesday Education Minister Owen Bonnici, said there is no need to close any schools due to the coronavirus outbreak so far.
