One of the Central Bank of Malta’s employees has tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday evening, the bank confirmed.
In a statement, the Central Bank said that as soon as the information was reported to management at 6:46pm, it took immediate action and carried out contact tracing within its premises to determine which employees could have potentially been in contact with their colleague.
All employees working in the department concerned were instructed to telework until further notice, as were other employees who had come into contact with the employee who had tested positive. The Bank added that all these employees were also asked to get tested for Covid-19.
Additionally, the bank contracted an infection prevention control specialist to disinfect the relevant premises, an operation which was concluded on Monday night.
“The Bank reassures that all the necessary measures have been taken and will continue to be taken to ensure the well-being of all employees,” it concluded.
