Coronavirus memes make the rounds as panic buying mode ensues

Tista' taqra bil- Malti.

A percentage of members of the general public in the Maltese Islands went into panic mode yesterday, with large hordes of people panic buying in bulk in various large supermarkets, worried that they will be have to holed up at home once COVID-19 hits the island (it is worth noting here that there has, at the time of writing, been no confirmed cases of the virus on the Maltese Islands.)

This, of course, sparked a number of a memes which took a light-hearted look at the current situation, over social media.

Some memes imagined what was happening inside the supermarkets themselves.

Some used celebrities to put their point across, such as this which features American actor John Travolta, in the guise of his Pulp Fiction role of Vincent Vega.

"Fejn hu l-ħobż u l-ħalib?"

A number of memes had toilet paper as a subject, as it apparently was being stockpiled by the shoppers (and also because of the name of one particular brand)

Finally, one meme reminded people about the importance of washing one’s hands… in a rather unique way.

Empty shelves in the supermarkets but soaps are still here! Doesn’t anyone wash themselves? Didn’t you dirty people know that doctors are advising to wash your hands often?
