The tenth death related to coronavirus was registered in Malta on Friday morning.
In a statement the Health Ministry said that a 72-year-old man who had tested positive on 14 August, died on Friday. The man had underlying health conditions.
The man was initially receiving treatment at St Thomas Hospital. He was later transferred to Mater Dei Hospital.
The ninth coronavirus-related death was registered last May, when a 68-year-old man died at Mater Dei Hospital.
The health authorities have urged the public to continue exercising caution.
On Thursday, 40 new coronavirus cases were registered in Malta. The total number of active cases currently stands at 699.
