Malta’s Green Party (Alternattiva Demokratika) has called on the authorities to ensure the enforcement of construction regulations and associated laws for the sake of people’s quality of life.
AD’s local candidate Daniel Desira said that protecting the environment has a key impact for local residents.
During the press conference in Marsascala, Desira said that, ‘It is essential that there is proper enforcement of regulations during construction. It is patently obvious that enforcement is not high on the government’s agenda.’
He also explained that it was important that government and NGOs cooperated on ways to deal with environmental issues.
On the issue of fish farming, Desira said that he wished to see cleaner seas for residents who live close to them.
Referencing Marsaskala, Desira said, ‘Marsaskala residents should be guaranteed a clean sea.’
The prospective AD candidate pledged that if elected, he would be pushing for improved public transport and routes to benefit residents.
