‘Clone company’ warning from the MFSA

The Malta Financial Services Authority has warned that a website is impersonating a local registered company online to advertise financial services to unsuspecting customers, advising the general public to steer clear.

The authority said that it had become aware of the unauthorised website, www.zenithfinanceltd.com, claiming to represent a Maltese-registered and licensed company. Whilst Zenith Finance Limited is in fact a Maltese-registered and licensed company (C 42720) its official website is actually zenithgroup.com.mt

The unauthorised website claims to be “an asset management firm that is dedicated to continuous financial portfolio growth, offering clients maximum returns on their investments,” but its operators have received no license to advertise such services from the MFSA.

The website therefore appeared to be a clone of a legitimate entity, the MFSA said, warning that the public should refrain from undertaking any business or transactions with the false entity.
