Cana Foundation will be receiving from Government  € 108,000 over a period of three years. The Ministry of Solidarity and Social Justice, Family and Children’s Rights has sealed a social agreement with the Foundation that provides support services to couples as well as individuals in need of psychological support or mentoring.

The agreement is an extension of the current agreement which has been increased by € 18,000 to enable Kana to add more services to existing ones.

Minister Michael Falzon said that the ministry cooperates a lot with the Church, so much so that most of the social agreements by his ministry are entered with Church entities that directly help people in need.

This is a sign that NGOs that are linked to the Church are still offering important services especially in the sectors of long term institutional care and respite care. This is clearly evidences by  the Malta Fact Sheet on Social Care & Support Services Sector for Persons with Disabilities published in 2018.

During this year, the Ministry of Solidarity and Social Justice, the Family and the Rights of the Child had about 50 social agreements, most of which were made with non-governmental organizations that help vulnerable people, including victims of domestic violence, addictions and homelessness among others.
