94 immigrants who are at risk of drowning in Maltese Waters are to be picked up by the Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) tonight. This was confirmed by a spokesperson for the AFM, who also said that they will be disembarking at around 7pm at Boilerwharf in Isla.
The immigrants appear to be the same group of immigrants pinpointed by the humanitarian NGO Alarm Phone, who have been at sea for 33 hours. They do not have water, and a baby is at risk of dying.
In its latest tweet, the NGO said that the migrants need water for the baby or else it might die.
On Sunday, the NGO said that the group reported that they lost one person and fear that more might die if they have to wait any longer.
The vessel Heydar Aliyev is near the boat but has not assisted the migrants yet. Alarm Phone said they fear the vessel is waiting for the Libyan Coast Guard to intervene.
The migrants have been in distress for the past 33 hours.
