One of Caritas Malta’s facility’s is about to receive much needed funding for its refurbishment.
The male quarters of the San Blas San Blas Therapeutic Community Centre in Zebbug, will be renovated thanks to funding from, ‘The Marigold Foundation – BOV in the Community’
The project will by fully funded by the collaboration, to help to drastically improve the building and amenities at the Centre, which provides drug rehabilitation programmes to its residents. The building has housed the centre for the past 30 years.
This will be the latest project which the collaboration has supported over the last five years.
Commenting on the news, Caritas Director Anthony Gatt explained that, ‘The San Blas Therapeutic Centre offers a safe and secure environment 24 hours a day. Rehabilitation does not just restore the physical body but holistically helps the person to heal and grow psychologically, emotionally and socially. Mind body and spirit are all addressed. We firmly believe that the greatly improved facilities will have a positive impact on the psychology of residents and will be more conducive therapeutically. The refurbished premises will also allow for increasing capacity and making the premises fully accessible.’
In addition to the funding, BOV’s CEO Mario Mallia explained that the project will also be supported by the ‘BOV Cards for Charity Campaign’, which also launched.
Mallia explained that, ‘every time our customers use their CashlinkMALTA or Cashlink Visa cards at retail outlets, BOV shall be making a donation that goes towards this project, without any cost to themselves or the retail outlet.’
