Many are calling for the removal of the Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation of Social Welfare Services (FSWS) Alfred Grixti following his comments on social media where he said that the NGOs ship, which assists migrants, should be destroyed.

Dimitrijevic said that the words used by Grixti show that he is not aware of his duties and responsibilities that he is supposed to put forward as the Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation of Social Welfare Services. She said that such words can harm the most vulnerable.

Dr Maria Pisani, a lecturer at the University of Malta accused Alfred Grixti of instigating violence and therefore he must resign from his post.

The Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health in Malta (ACAMH) stated that it finds it unacceptable that the Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation for Social Welfare Services, the government agency which is entrusted to look out for the needs of vulnerable individuals would express such comments regarding boats that carry refugees to safety. In a press statement, ACAMH remarked that Alfred Grixti has demonstrated through his comments that his beliefs are not consistent with the position he holds as CEO of the Foundation.
