The Committee Against Bird Slaughter (CABS) is offering a €2,500 reward to anyone who is able to provide information to identify the mastermind(s) behind the shooting incident that happened in Girgenti on Monday evening.

In a press release, CABS said that unknown shots were fired at their patrol car. The incident happened on the main road in the Girgenti valley whilst volunteers were monitoring protected birds of prey in Buskett.

This was the second incident involving CABS on the same day. Earlier in the afternoon volunteers monitoring bird migration in Binġemma were hit by multiple led shots fired from “approximately 50 metres”.

CABS president Heinz Schwarze said “We are relieved that no one got hurt but we are concerned that two such incidents occurred within a couple of day”.
