Malta Public Transport has announced that air conditioning has been turned on again with immediate effect, following instructions from the authorities.
The air conditioning systems have been refitted with upgraded inflow particulate filters, which will continue to undergo regular cleansing. Additionally, the air ducts of air conditioners on every bus are being specially fumigated every night at the end of each shift. This is to ensure maximum safety.
Circulating air on the bus is being changed a minimum of eight times per hour during regular operation for the safety of everyone onboard. Circulating air is being purified with internal air filtering, while external systems provide fresh air. Windows and hatches are being kept closed to maintain the right functioning of air conditioning.
Malta Public Transport also reminds that face masks are still mandatory while on board.
This comes after authorities requesting that public transport turn off the air conditioning, as well as other measures for the prevention of spreading COVID-19.
