Building regulator asks police to initiate criminal action after St Julian’s road collapse

The Building and Construction Agency has requested the police to initiate criminal proceedings against the developer and architect with regards to the incident in Ivo Muscat Azzopardi Street, St Julian’s on Wednesday.

The agency said that the developer and architect were in breach of a legal notice regulating the avoidance of damage to third party property after they initiated works prior to submitting the required documents.

“Works should not have commenced on the site in question,” the building regulator said.

Nobody was injured when the collapse took place in a construction site.

According to reports, the developer is also involved in the Hamrun building collapse from earlier this month, which claimed the life of Miriam Pace.
