Independent candidate Arnold Cassola has called on the public to boycott all upcoming activities held in relation to Republic Day.
In a statement Cassola said that next Friday Malta will celebrate Republic Day however, it is now emerging that trusted persons within the Office of the Prime Minister, have been in some way or another mentioned in connection with the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia.
Cassola mentioned the former chief of staff of the Prime Minister Keith Schembri, Rabat Mayor and Head of Government Customer Care Unit Sandro Craus, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat’s bodyguard Kenneth Camilleri. Schembri was mentioned several times during Melvin Theuma’s testimony on Wednesday morning.
Theuma told the court that he had a meeting with Schembri at Castille and subsequently met Craus who told him about the government job.
Cassola argued that if Muscat is not immediately stripped off his Ġieħ ir-Repubblika, then those of goodwill should boycott all activities which are connected to Republic Day.
“He has shamed this honour, our country and its people,” Cassola’s statement reads.
