Over 40 BOV employees participated in the 2020 GiG Malta Marathon held on Sunday, with a good number of them improving their personal best time.

The marathon is the culmination of months of hard training, determination and perseverance for BOV staff who are members of the bank’s dedicated running club.

For the past five years, the BOV Running Club has been instrumental in pushing staff outside their comfort zone, from the couch to the field, enticing them to embark on an active lifestyle. The employees meet on a weekly basis, training under the guidance of professional running coaches and throughout the year, participate in the various races organised around the island.

“This was my ninth time participating in the Malta Marathon. I am proud to work with an institution that has the well-being of both its staff and the community at heart,” said Kevin Spiteri, one of the BOV athletes, “Besides being a major sponsor of local sports, Bank of Valletta organises numerous staff activities promoting a healthy lifestyle and strengthening our team spirit”.

The BOV Running Club today boasts of many success stories that resulted in the transformation of employees who started from zero and are now running 21 kilometres and more.
