Education Minister Owen Bonnici terminated all the contracts of the person who altered the Wikipedia page of Pieter Omtzigt, the Council of Europe rapporteur on Daphne Caruana Galizia’s murder.
In a statement, the Ministry for Education said that Bonnici ended all contracts the person had with immediate effect. The unnamed person held consultancy contracts over a number of years within the ministry.
According to Bonnici, a technical investigation revealed that in the past weeks, the person concerned used a computer registered in the name of the Ministry to alter Omtizgt’s Wikipedia profile.
PN MP Jason Azzopardi called for the person’s identity to be made public and for said person to face criminal charges.
Later during the day, Minister Evarist Bartolo said that the person identified was not a consultant of his and wasn’t part of his private secretariat.
