Blood pressure pills: Authorities search for other suppliers

The Maltese Health Authorities started the process of bringing valsartan medications from alternative companies, because unexpected impurities were found in the active ingredient manufactured in China.

This has led to some products containing valsartan being banned from several outlets.  This was announced by the European Medicines Agency (EMA).

According to several sources who spoke to Newsbook.com.mt, the same impurities could be also found in pills coming from India.

As long as one does not have any alternative treatment, it is important to continue taking this drug, because serious health problems could be caused if they are stopped immediately.

This medicine is used to control high blood pressure and is also used for heart conditions.
