I’d heard about the TD Plus service but had no idea exactly how it worked. As it happened, it couldn’t have been simpler. So here goes – basically you get to book a seat on a lovely ‘premium’ bus by using the app by choosing where and when to be picked-up and dropped-off. The app decides the closest place for this to happen, you pick a time and voilà!
The service currently operates in St Julian’s, Swieqi, San Ġwann, Sliema, Msida, Pieta or Floriana every day between 5.30 am and 10.30 pm.
If you are going with a friend, or even a group of friends, you can add them to your journey (at the moment, you pay €2 and each added passenger pays €1). You can also request a vehicle which is pram, pushchair or wheelchair-friendly. Of course, WiFi is available on board and there are charging ports right next to the seats, which is very convenient.
European Mobility Week (16th to 22nd September) seeks to improve public health and quality of life through promoting clean mobility and sustainable urban transport. The campaign gives people the chance to explore the role of city streets and to experiment with practical solutions to tackle urban challenges, such as air pollution. More information may be obtained from the website.
