Bishop Grech will address Pope Francis during Consistory

Official celebrations in Malta will be held next week

Bishop Mario Grech will be the only Cardinal who will be addressing the Pope in the name of the 13 new cardinals to be created in the consistory of Saturday 28th November.

Special commemorative stamps 

MaltaPost plc will issue a special stamp which can be obtained on Saturday morning from the Victoria Post Office. The Diocese of Gozo together with the Gozitan Philatelic Society is issuing a commemorative postcard and a set of personalized stamps that can be obtained from the Bishop’s Curia.

Celebrations in Malta & Gozo 

 On his return from the Vatican as a Cardinal after the Consistory on Saturday, H.E. Mario Grech will lead two Solemn Concelebrations of Thanksgiving. The masses will be held at the Rotunda of St. John the Baptist, Xewkija, Gozo, on Sunday 6 December at 5:30pm. Another will be held at St. John’s Co-Cathedral, Valletta on Wednesday 9 December. Both masses will be broadcast on television , on and on the social media of the Diocese of Gozo. 

On Monday 7 December Cardinal Grech is expected to pay courtesy visits to the  Maltese Episcopal Conference at the Archbishop’s Palace, Mdina, and the Civil Authorities of the Maltese State.
