The Archdiocese is reminding the public that feast marches are not in the hands of the church.
In a statement, it stated that the directives issued by the health authorities are being closely followed in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19. The Archdiocese explained that parish feasts are only being celebrated with mass and a pilgrimage.
It added that other feast activities, such as marches, do not fall under the Church’s jurisdiction. These are in the hands of the entity that organised the event, and the civil authorities that granted permission. In the case of feast marches, this responsibility falls on band clubs and the Police.
This comes after news that a patient identified as a sporadic case of Covid-19 had attended a number of activities related to the Santa Venera feast last week.
