The ‘Ballu Tritoni’ will once again be taking place in the Tritons Square in Valletta as part of Carnival celebration in Malta tomorrow 2nd March, free of charge. This was announced by the Valletta 2018 Foundation and Festivals Malta.

The show will be opened by competitive dancing at 5:30pm followed by Brass House Unit accompanied by J Anvil and Ozzy Lino. Local DJs will then take the stage to carry on the festivities.

Valletta 2018 Foundation Chairman Jason Micallef said that following last year it was clear that people “would like to see it again”. Micallef also said that he would like to see this ball becoming a regular tradition as another initiative by the Valletta Cultural Agency.

In a statement by the Foundation, Micallef said that while plenty of museums is great, “it is essential that there is life in them, which is why such activities are on the agenda for the coming years.”

Festivals Malta Director Annabelle Stivala meanwhile said that the ‘Ballu Tritoni’ was reviving an old tradition. A new aspect to Carnival festivities will be “a parade of colourful dance costumes around the Triton Fountain by several dance companies.”
