Bail for 19-year old charged with friend’s jet ski death

A 19-year-old Dutchman pleaded not guilty of involuntary manslaughter after he allegedly caused his friend’s death in St Julian’s on Wednesday.

He appeared before Magistrate Aaron Bugeja this morning, accused with involuntarily killing his friend and of driving a jet ski under the influence of alcohol or drugs, after he did not pass the breathalyser test.

The accused, who requested bail, insisted that he had consumed alcohol the night before, and not on the day of the accident.

Prosecuting, Inspector Leeroy Balzan Engerer did not deny him bail; however, he emphasised the seriousness of the case due to his drink driving.

The Magistrate bailed him against a deposit of €5,000 and a personal guarantee of €15,000.
