BAG says roundabout designs are ‘very dangerous’ for cyclists

Bicycle Advocacy Group, BAG, has criticised the current roundabout designs saying that they are dangerous for cyclists and that roadworks are being focussed almost exclusively for the use of cars. In a statement, BAG referred the Mdina Road, Zebbug and said that whoever is piloting these projects is not conversant with the requirements of cyclists and that the group is not being consulted at all. BAG said that the only time its advice was sought was when the plans for the Central Link project were all but finalised.

BAG proposes that the roundabouts carry a specialised cycle lane for bicycles and pedestrians. It said that this concept was successfully implemented abroad.
