Aviation manufacturer Britten-Norman setting up shop in Malta

The British aviation design and manufacturing company Britten-Norman has signed an agreement with Malta Industrial Parks. The aircraft company will be establishing its local hub with an investment of €1 million over a three-year period and new job opportunities in the aviation sector. This will expand the national aviation cluster.

Thanks to this agreement Britten-Norman has been assigned an airside allocation at the Safi Aviation Park. Britten-Norman has also applied for approvals for a number of initiatives from the Civil Aviation Directorate within Transport Malta. They have also applied for an Air Training Organisation certificate and a Maintenance Training Organisation certificate to be able to train pilots, engineers and technicians.

Britten-Norman will also be registering a number of their aircraft in the Malta Registry, and has also entered into an agreement to start training AFM (Armed Forces of Malta) pilots.

At the end of April 2019, there were 1,409 persons employed within the Maltese aviation sector. This represents a 5.4% increase from teh same period in 2018.
