The P61 patrol boat of the Armed Forces of Malta was inaugurated after recent restoration was done on it.

In a statement, the Ministry of the Interior said that the OPV 61 patrol boat was built in Italy, by Fincantieri, in 2005 and following a €7 million restoration process it is now in the hands of the Maltese Armed Forces.

The funds came from the Internal Security Fund, the European Union and national funds.

Parliamentary Secretary for European Funds Aaron Farrugia said the project lasted 8 months.

In the last 12 years, P61 was used to watch about 72,000 miles.
