Archbishop Charles J Scicluna was interviewed on Newsbook as part of the series Newsbook Q&A. Fr Joe Borg led the interview which focused on the current situation regarding the spread of coronavirus.

The Archbishop said that at this stage one cannot assume that the visit will happen as scheduled but the decision will be taken in due course and will be announced accordingly.
Fr Joe Borg asked the Archbishop about the Pope's visit scheduled for May 2020.
He also said that as Christians we have the responsibility to protect each other and they should not fail in doing so.
The Archbishop said that the people have the duty to follow the instructions issued by the relevant authorities.
Scicluna also said that the Church has no power to tell the authorities, the government to issue certain measures, especially related to the economy. But said that we all have to assume responsibility and co-operate with the authorities.
He said that we have to admit and accept that we will go through a hard time and it will affect a lot of families.
The Archbishop is replying to questions sent by the readers.
He said that these situations could have been tackled a long time ago.
The Archbishop is referring to migrants fleeing their countries for a better life, the children suffering hunger. He said they are too a virus we need to cure.
He then said that difficult times should not determine our state of mind.
Archbishop said that people might ask why does a child, an innocent person, can get sick with the virus. Archbishop Scicluna said that God can be our strength in the most difficult time.
The Archbishop explained that at that time God did not abandon the Jews but he was again suffering with them.
Fr Joe Borg has asked the Archbishop about Auschwitz, a place where some people believe that God abandoned humankind.
Archbishop Scicluna said that he believes that God will help us overcome this virus through human intelligence.
Archbishop Scicluna is referring to a prayer Pope Francis prayed this week in Rome. During an interview with Il Corriere Della Sera Poe Francis said he prayed to God to stop this pandemic.
He thanked all the medical staff who are assisting the people who have contracted coronavirus.
Archbishop Scicluna said in the future we need to think and analyze why did this virus spread.
