Appeal for blood for rescheduled operations

Miguela Xuereb

Tista' taqra bil- Malti.

The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted many of the scheduled operations at hospitals, including a large number that were not considered urgent and were postponed indefinitely.

However, now, a number of operations are to be rescheduled. This means that the need for blood will increase considerably in the coming days and this will lead to a need for a greater amount of blood donations.

Those who wish to lend a hand in this regard may come forward to donate blood as follows:

• at the Gwardamanġa Blood Donation Centre which is open 7 days a week (including public holidays) from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm

• at the Mobile Blood Donation Unit which will be in front of the Qawra Parish Church on Sunday 17th May from 8.30 am to 1.00 pm

It is important to bring your identity card, driving license or Maltese passport with you. Please encourage others to donate blood as well.

All the necessary measures are being taken to protect anyone who donates blood, as well as the service professionals.
