The Ministry for Gozo said that at present no one tested positive for coronavirus on Gozo. In a statement following the news of the first coronavirus case on Malta, the Gozo Ministry issued a statement explaining that in the eventuality of a patient testing positive for coronavirus on Gozo, the patients would be transported to Malta.
It said that a protocol was drafted in order to ensure the safety of the patient, staff and the general public.
The Ministry for Gozo urged those who think they have coronavirus symptoms to not leave their residence and call the newly launched helpline 111 instead. The public health authorities will instructing those contacting its helpline accordingly.
The Gozo General Hospital is working closely with the public health authorities to ensure that all the measures being applied in Malta are also applied in Gozo.
Further, the ministry said that the Gozo Channel was taking the necessary precautions to ensure that the virus does not spread. A number of handsanitizers have been installed around the terminals and vessels. The crew was also instructed to turn off all air conditioning and open the doors to allow natural air to circulate instead.
