Another Captain Morgan ship, the Atlantis, chartered to host more migrants

Another vessel owned by Captain Morgan has left Malta to host a number of migrants who were in distress and were rescued by the Maltese authorities since they were in the Maltese SAR zone. The Maltese government is still refusing to let in 110 migrants who are still at sea and are waiting to enter a safe port.

The latest vessel chartered by Captain Morgan is the Atlantis which according to the Captain Morgan’s website this vessel has a capacity for 499 passengers.

The Atlantis will accompany the vessel Europa II which was chartered to host a group of 57 individuals who were rescued from a rubber dinghy adrift within Malta’s search and rescue region late last month.

These two vessels are currently 23km away from the Maltese coast.

This week during a parliamentary sitting the government confirmed it is paying Captain Morgan €3,000 a day to host asylum seekers on one of its vessels, the Europa II.

This was confirmed by Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri in reply to a parliamentary question by PN MP Jason Azzopardi.
