An occupied bed at Mater Dei costs up to €1,291

An occupied bed in Mater Dei costs the Government up to €1,291 a night when a patient is totally dependent. Health Minister Chris Fearne presented this figure and others in Parliament last night.

Mr Fearne explained that the expenditure on every bed per night for a patient of low-dependence varies between €163 and €347. On the other hand, when the patient is more dependent on the services offered by the hospital, it costs the Government between €283 and €1,291 per night.
