Alarm Phone appeals to Malta and Italy to help 62 migrants at sea

Tista' taqra bil- Malti.

62 migrants are currently in danger at sea after having run away from Libya, Alarm Phone said. Among them there are 13 women and 6 children.

The NGO has appealed to Malta and Italy to help these migrants and not let them drown or starve to death.

On Twitter it said that it’s informed the Armed Forces of Malta, but has not received a reply back from them. Alarm Phone’s last contact with the people in distress was at 4.22am.

It said that the boat’s position suggests that it was the boat which was spotted by a Frontex aircraft in the afternoon. If this is the case, it means that the European authorities have known about this boat for hours.

Alarm Phone pleaded with the authorities to step in and save these people’s lives.
