Minister for Tourism Konrad Mizzi said that AirMalta pilots are not allowed to fly more than 100 hours every month and a total aggregate amount of 900 hours per year.
In his reply to the parliamentary question asked by Partit Laburista Clayton Bartolo, Minister Mizzi also explained how AirMalta pilots work an average of 650 hours per year and that according to the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) they cannot fly:
- more than 100 hours over 28 consecutive days;
- not more than 900 hours in a calendar year;
- not more than 1000 hours over 12 consecutive months.
He also said that there are also restrictions on the length of periods of duty, the amount of flights possible during periods of duty and how many consecutive days pilots are allowed work.
