Court proceedings earlier this week on the murder of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, suggesting the involvement of the Deputy Leader of the Labour Party, Chris Cardona, are worrisome and terrifying, said Alternattiva Demokratika.

In a statement issued on Wednesday the Green Party Chairperson, Carmel Cacopardo said they are aware that in recent months the Police had already turned their attention to Chris Cardona, the Deputy Leader of the Labour Party.

On Monday as the compilation of evidence against Yorgen Fenech, accused of complicity in the assassination of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, continued middleman Melvin Theuma said he had asked Yorgen Fenech if it was Keith Schembri who told him they found Chris Cardona’s phone in the sea.

Theuma also testified that either Yorgen Fenech or Johann Cremona had shown him a photo of a person who had transferred money from Chris Cardona to il-Fulu.

“It is high time that the Labour Party does what is right in these circumstances and remove Chris Cardona from the post of Deputy Leader” – said the Alternattiva Demokratika Chairperson.

Cacopardo also stated that as long as the Police are left free to act Alternattiva Demokratika said it is confident that the Police will investigate all the leads they have in detail.
