A spokesperson for Animal Liberation Malta said that they are disgusted at the death of a carriage-pulling horse in Floriana.

Robert Xuereb Archer told Newsbook.com.mt that the group is totally against all forms of animal cruelty,”What happened showed that this tradition is cruel to animals”.

Yesterday, a horse collapsed and died of a heart attack in Floriana.

The spokesperson for ALM said that horse-drawn carriages no longer play a part in Maltese traditions and that the scorching heat is not ideal for the horses that pull them.

A protest against this form of transportation will take place this Saturday.
