Foreign Affairs Minister Evarist Bartolo said that the death of Miriam Pace following the collapse of her house in Hamrun is the result of greed. Bartolo said that this ‘sweet’ island (referring to the opening verse of Malta’s National Anthem) turns bitter when the republic is built on greed and where money becomes the only thing that counts.
Miriam Pace’s lifeless body was found under the debris around 10pm and extracted from under the debris half an hour later, after an 8 hour search and rescue operation.
The accident happened in Joseph Abela Scolaro Road at around 2.15pm on Monday.
