A man was dissuaded from committing suicide after he contacted Crisis Resolution Malta -the only dedicated body for potential suicide cases.
After receiving the call, Crisis Resolution Malta contacted the Police so that they could find the man who was on the verge of committing suicide in Gozo, as he needed immediate attention.
How can we spot a potential suicide victim?
According to the American Psychological Association (APA) there are five main factors that indicate if an individual is at risk of self-harm or suicide:
- Mood swings;
- Long spells online ( research shows that people do not need more than two consecutive hours on social media);
- A dramatic change in appearance, usually a more careless approach;
- Slow academic regression
