Updated: 211 asylum seekers rescued by AFM in 24 hours

97 people were rescued by the Armed Forces of Malta late on Sunday night. The asylum seekers were rescued from a sinking boat and brought over to Malta in a second rescue operation which took place in less than 24 hours.

The people were picked up by a patrol boat 44 nautical miles off the coast of Malta.

114 people were rescued and brought over to Malta in the early hours of Sunday morning and were brought in to Haywharf by the AFM.
