90.3% applied for SEC – highest percentage yet

This year there were 5,145 candidates who registered for the SEC examinations, also known as O’Levels. 3,436 of these candidates were born in 2002 which means that 90.3% of the 2002 cohort applied for SEC examinations which is equal to that of 2017 and the highest in the history of SEC examinations.

The percentage of candidates being awarded Grades 1 and 2 has generally increased in five of the six SEC subjects which are Mathematics, English Language, Maltese, Physics, and English Literature, over the past five years.

For those who failed their exams, The Ministry of Education has announced that throughout summer there will be several free classes to help candidates prepare for a re-sit exam in September.
