The health authorities have reported the death of an 86-year-old man who had tested positive to Covid-19, the 24th death attributed to the pandemic in Malta to date.
In a statement, the Health Ministry said that the man had tested positive on 8 September. He was admitted to Mater Dei Hospital on 17 September, and died earlier today.
As is standard in its announcements, the ministry highlighted that the man had underlying health conditions.
It also expressed its condolences to the man’s family, whilst appealing to the public to continue following the advice of the health authorities, namely regular hand-washing, social distancing and the use of face masks.
Earlier today, the health authorities reported 38 new cases of Covid-19. As 34 patients were reported to have made a recovery, the total number of active cases rose to 678.
