An 86-year-old man who tested positive for Covid-19 last week has died at the care home he resides in, the Health Ministry has confirmed.

His death is the 21st linked to the Covid-19 pandemic in Malta, and occurs a day after three pandemic-related deaths were reported by the authorities.

In a statement, the ministry said that the man tested positive for Covid-19 on 14 September, and continued to receive treatment at the care home.

The man – who, the ministry reported, had other health conditions – died on Sunday morning.

The ministry offered its condolences, and once more appealed to the public to follow the advice of the health authorities to wash their hands regularly, maintain social distancing and wear face masks.

32 new cases of Covid-19 have been reported on Sunday.
