Leader of the Opposition Adrian Delia has waited 8 months for a response from Prime Minister Joseph Muscat regarding the appointment of the Commissioner for Standards in Public Life.
Government Whip Robert Cutajar spoke with Newsbook.com.mt and confirmed the delay of the Commissioner for Standards in Public Life’s appointing.
He explained that the Leader of the Opposition, in the name of the Opposition as a whole, had submitted a suggestion for the Commissioner but did not mention the nominee by name. Cutajar said that the Opposition is waiting for a reaction and response from the Prime Minister to the name submitted by Adrian Delia.
The appointing of the Commissioner for Standards is one of the elements in the Act regarding the Standards in Public Life. A legal advice has not been published, hence why the law has not been enforced as yet.
