8 months imprisonment for €7 razor theft

A 30-year-old Bulgarian who pled guilty to stealing a razor blade which cost €7 was sentenced to 8 months imprisonment.

The man admitted that he is currently going through an unstable period in his life and that he had breached a suspended sentence order.

During his testimony, he reasoned that he shouldn’t be sent to prison for a razor that costs €7, and noted that he paid for it upon being caught.

However, since this crime was committed during his probation period, Magistrate Monica Vella sentenced him to two months of imprisonment for the theft, plus the 6-month suspended sentence left over from before the crime was committed.
