74 individuals were fined for excessive speeding on Friday.
The police said that officers from the Traffic Section, the Rapid Intervention Unit and the Special Intervention Unit were assisted by Transport Malta Enforcement Officers during the road checks carried out on Friday.
Police were deployed on Mellieħa Bypass, St Paul’s Bay Bypass, Kennedy Drive Road, and the Coast Road to monitor motorists throughout the day.
30 speeding fines were issued to motorists driving along Mellieħa Bypass, three to motorists on St Paul’s Bay Bypass, ten to motorists on Kennedy Drive Road and 31 speeding fines were issued to motorists driving along the Coast Road.
Eight fines were issued due to other traffic contraventions including driving without a seat belt, cars having tinted glass, and cars being used without any registration plates.
The police appealed to the public to drive carefully and to not ignore traffic regulations.
